Key skills and knowledge covered during this training course through a combination of both theory and practical applications.

  • Legislative requirements for all working at heights
  • Identification of a variety of working at height situations
  • Hazard and risk analysis, implementation of control measures – SWMS
  • Safe work practices and control systems including fall prevention devices, work positioning systems and fall arrest systems
  • Inspect, install and apply a variety of height safety equipment including: Anchor points, horizontal lifelines, harnesses,
    connectors, lanyards, energy absorbers, rope grabs and knot tying.
  • Safe use of ladders

There is no prerequisite for this course, so it is perfect for anyone who wants to gain experience and practical knowledge that can be used on a worksite.

Height training Canberra

This height safety training course is an extension to the working at heights day 1 training program. It will provide learners the skills and knowledge to supervise working at heights and be able to prepare, plan and carry out a rescue plan if a worker suffers a fall utilising a fall arrest system. Note: If fall arrest systems are being utilised as a height safety control measure, it is LAW to have a documented rescue plan in place that has been tested and rehearsed and be be implemented by a competent person.

What to expect:

All courses consists of both theory and practical, including theory and practical assessments.

  • Theory Consists of classroom work involving a powerpoint presentation, group discussions, group activities such as conducting hazard identification and risk assessments, completing a height safety rescue plan and recording height safety equipment records.
  • Practical consists of hazards analysis and risk assessments, check and inspect harnesses, ladder climb, use of fall arrest inertia reels, fixed and horizontal anchor lines, set up and use of fixed and adjustable lanyards, rope work, knot tying and rescue plan rehearsals. All of this, onsire at your workplace utilising our specialised mobile training unit, providing our students with realistic and challenging work at heights scenarios.

Please note: All students must be able to communicate in English and able to complete all documents, including theory assessments. If assistance is required, please contact us prior to commencement of training day to discuss options. Failure to do this, may result in a student not being able to complete the training and a refund will not be issued.
