The Three P’s of First Aid
The aim of first aid is to provide immediate/initial treatment to someone who has suffered an illness or injury. First aid care is provided to a person in an emergency situation to prevent the condition from deteriorating and further damage. The three P’s of First Aid will help you decide on first aid treatments and goals. The three Ps are as follows:
-
Preserve Life
Your first priority as a first responder, in any case, should be to save lives. To save the victim’s life, you will need to perform CPR, stop bleeding or take other measures. C-A-B (circulation, airway, and breathing) is a good place to start. Evaluate the victim’s circulation and make any necessary adjustments. Ascertain that the victim’s airway is clear and that they are breathing. The intention is to keep the situation from getting any worse.
-
Prevent Deterioration
Do whatever you can to keep the victim safe before medical assistance arrives. The goal is to keep the condition from getting worse and to avoid any more injury. This could include transporting the victim to a safer place, administering first aid, stabilizing them, or simply remaining with the victim and comforting them.
-
Promote Recovery
Your duty now is to support healing after you’ve done whatever you can with first aid care. This can be accomplished by instilling trust, offering warmth, and attempting to alleviate discomfort, among other things.
These first-aid and emergency tips and tricks will most likely vary depending on your particular situation. However, recalling the fundamentals of what to do might save a life or avoid further suffering. Before you find yourself in a position where it’s difficult to think clearly, learn these easy steps.
