What is a confined space ticket?

If you are required to enter and work in confined spaces, then the first step is complete the relevant training course. This must be  nationally recognised training provided by a registered training organisation (RTO).

Some roles and responsibilities will vary, along with the required qualifications to carry these out: some of these include:

General workers entering confined spaces: RIIWHS202D – Enter and work in confined spaces. Additional PPE such as Breathing apparatus may be applied if required: MSMWHS216 – Operate breathing apparatus

Gas tester to ensure a safe atmosphere for workers entering and working: MSMWHS217 – Gas test atmospheres

Permit Issuer to give written authorisation and take direct control of the space – MSMWHS201 – Conduct hazard analysis & MSMPER300 – Issue work permits

Confined space rescue operator to conduct any type of rescue/extrication required in the event of an emergency – Requires various qualifications and experience

Standby operator to ensure the safety of all entrance at all times – Requires various qualifications and experience.
